Join Sunny Rice from Alaska Sea Grant for a hands-on exploration of the fascinating intertidal zone. Learn about local crab species with Joe Stratman from the Alaska Department of Fish & Game, who will share insights on these intriguing marine creatures.

After our morning adventure, we’ll hike back to the Public Library for lunch.

In the afternoon, tap into your creativity with artist Doris Olsen, who will guide you through painting a creature of your choice from the intertidal zone. No experience necessary—just bring your imagination!

  • Drop off for this day is at Hungry Point at 8:30am
  • Pick up is at the Petersburg Public Library at 3:30pm

What to Bring:

  • Backpack with lunch, snacks, and water bottle

  • Boots

  • Dress for weather

  • Big curiosity and creativity!

Important Note:

A completed and signed Health Release Form must be returned to the library front desk by Friday, August 8 to secure your spot. Late submissions will result in registration cancellation.
