For kids going into grades 6, 7, & 8.

Cost: FREE, Registration Required

Explore the science and art of botany with Joni Johnson, Botanist for the USFS, and Cindi Lagoudakis, Artist. Discover the the flora of our forest and muskegs with Joni Johnson & Sunny Rice. We'll be hiking from Sandy Beach Park up through the old ski hill on Fredrick Point Road. After lunch we'll head back to the library where Cindi Lagoudakis will take students on a jelly print making journey using plants collected during the hike.

  • Drop off for this day's adventure will be at Sandy Beach Shelter #1 at 9am
  • Pick up will be at the Petersburg Public Library at 4pm

What to Bring:

  • Backpack with lunch, snacks, and water bottle

  • Rain pants & weather appropriate gear (we will be sitting in the muskeg during activities)

  • Boots 

  • Big curiosity and creativity!

Important Note:

A completed and signed Health Release Form must be returned to the library front desk by Friday, August 1 to secure your spot. Late submissions will result in registration cancellation.

Viking Travel will provide bus service from Sandy Beach to the Petersburg Public Library.
